On the Efficacy of an Emergency Facebook Rain Dance Ritual for the California Wildfires

On September 20th, 2014

I saw a facebook post from my friend that Mt. shasta was on fire,

following this post, I saw several other posts regarding the current fires that were ravaging many areas of drought stricken California.

Then I got a phone call from another friend of mine who mentioned we should do a rain dance.

So I immediately posted an event on facebook “Emergency Rain Dance for California

it had the following instructions:

Post a song about rain
imagine the rain falling on your face
how bout a little cry for planet earth

MOST IMPORTANTLY, also, within 24 hours of your rain prayer, please make an offering to Mother Earth
plant a plant put some seeds in the earth donate to a wildlife charity
pick up some garbage around your neighborhood

Lets all try to restore the balance and see if we can bring some of the clouds

present the next few days to swell with love and joy and rain down upon us in ecstasy.”

A couple of days passed…

and then on facebook I got the following post from a friend in San Francisco:

I participated here in SF and within a couple days rain for the first time in what feels like a year! Must have done something right!”

And I look on the news, and in fact,

there is a storm heading directly to the largest wildfire in California, the King fire, that formed in the Pacific ocean.

This occurred on September 25th, about 5 days after posting the event.

Several other folks sent word of their own synchronicities they experienced surround the event,

such as randomly walking to exactly face a fountain at exactly 9pm when the event was to take place.

If everyone can REPEAT sending more energy TONIGHT at 9pm,

Perhaps the fire can be extinguished within the week!!!

The True Secret of Peace

The fires of passion

hot and old and deep

Ravage all

burning in destructive waves

And yet

are easily drown

in the tears of regret.

KALI, after going on a total temper tantrum rampage, has killed everyone because she was angry.  Shiva has sacrificed himself to be a corpse, which KALI steps on because she isn’t watching where she is going.  She sticks her tongue out and crosses her eyes in the realization of how foolish she has been,

and how rude, for to show someone the bottom of your feet is the ultimate insult.  So here, she is embarrassed that not only have her emotions destroyed everything, but she has also shamed her lover in disrespect.

The True Secret of the Spirit Animal

We adore so much

to research the meanings of

animals in our lives.

Can you for a moment

what it is

YOU represent to the animal seeing you?

what is the message,

to the fox you saw

when it sees you.

OR can you only think

what the fox means to you?

What is the symbol of you to yourself, and to the world?

Perhaps someone could write a book

on the significance of human sightings

through the eyes of all the beasts.

“When you see a daniel it portends blessings, but seeing a Sebastian means a bad day.”

Can we create correspondences into as well as away from ourselves?

How do you effect the sun as it marches through the sky on your birthday?

What psychological effect does the passage through scorpio have upon a star?

What shape do you take

to the cloud

who sees your form upon the earth.

Maybe you look like a fish,

or an elephant,

depending on the breeze.

When you can know

who you are

through the eyes of all creatures great and small,

all this wandering

comes to an end

and we become our true spirit animal

that is all possible forms

upon the earth

and all places

instead of yearning

to become the soul of a beast

in vain attempts

to capture its power

while eagerly discarding our own.

Having Hydras in our Hearts

The more you kill your enemy

the more they shall appear before you.

A river of antagonists

a constant stream against your righteous dreams.

Compulsion is possession!

Hatred is a Hydra!

It feeds upon itself

Never growing tired or old

Housed in every heart

That allows it entry beneath its skin.

Hatred is a many hearted Hydra

We give it shelter

As it eats us from the outside in

There is a weakness in this beast,

it lays within the heart of hearts

each heart that love has won

becomes a soldier on the side

of life itself and those that live it

against those who die with every breath

making marshes of miasma

Love hatred out of existence

within your fleshy house

or be eaten by its jaws

like everybody else.

On January 20, 1948–10 days, in fact, before he was assassinated–a handmade bomb was hurled at Gandhi as he attended a gathering. This act of terrorism was carried out by a Hindu youth. Fortunately, the bomb missed the mark and Gandhi survived.

The youth was arrested. The next day, several adherents of the Sikh faith called on Gandhi and assured him that the culprit was not a Sikh. Gandhi rebuked them, saying that it mattered nothing at all to him whether the assailant was a Sikh, a Hindu or a Muslim. Whoever the perpetrator might be, he said, he wished him well.

Gandhi explained that the youth had been taught to think of him as an enemy of the Hindu cause, that hatred had been implanted in his heart. The youth believed what he was taught and was so desperate, so devoid of all hope, that violence seemed the only alternative. Gandhi felt only pity for the young man. He even told the outraged chief of police to not harass his assailant but make an effort to convert him to right thoughts and actions.

This was always his approach. No one abhorred violence more than Gandhi. At the same time no one knew more deeply that violence can only be countered by nonviolence. Just as fire is extinguished by water, hatred can only be defeated by love and compassion. Some criticized Gandhi for coddling the terrorist. Others scorned his conviction, calling it sentimental and unrealistic, an empty vision.

Gandhi was alone.
